2023 Ibiza Photography Workshop by Gypsy Westwood - Part 1: Style and Cakes

I was honored to be invited to make cakes for Ibiza Wedding Photography Workshop this April. This workshop was hosted by Gypsy Westwood and planned by Bliss Ibiza Weddings & Events. Gypsy is a senior indicator of photographers in Ibiza. While she is dedicated to her profession, she does not forget to contribute her experience to guide other photographers in need. 2023 is the year when the workshop was restarted after the pandemic. I am very grateful to Edyta for her invitation, which gave me the opportunity to witness this master class in the photography industry.

Edyta is such a professional and talented planner. Whatever she planned are arts, no exception. I made the cakes according to the colour palette.

This is undoubtedly a design that is at the forefront of trends: "Wild garden Style" floral designs, pastel colours and vintage crystal table decor.

"Guess what is the most beautiful part of vintage glass, crystal chandeliers and plants?" --- "Their shadows!"

Here comes my cake. I thought I should make a normal wedding cake size, like a 2-3 tiers cake, but Edyta suggested making a group of smaller cakes. I was so delighted. Because mini cakes are difficult to accept by wedding clients and I haven't have a chance to make them.

However, mini cakes can bring the sophistication of cakes to the extreme.

This kind of luxury can only appear on dreamy occasions like Styled Shoot. I used pastel colours and combined the technique of buttercream piping and painting to make my cakes fit the table design.

When I received the photos from Gypsy Westwood, I was stunned by her solid foundation in photography.

None of the details of my cake texture were lost, and the clever framing added more layers of light and shadow.

I regret not bringing tons of cakes for her to shoot :p
